GENERAL PURPOSE:
Provide excellent SSL managed services support to all MegaPath clients. The MegaPath (SSL VPN) SOC (Strategic Operations Center) monitors and supports mission critical network devices using real time alarming of network faults, analysis, notification, trending of faults and escalation. A successful candidate will be accountable for working in conjunction with customers, as well as vendors, to troubleshoot applications and services connecting through an SSL VPN gateway. Will work with management and operations to help improve workflows, processes/procedures and document them. Understanding the nature of a 24x7x365 and a SLA business and the issues surrounding urgency; is critical in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for resolving and assisting in the resolution of issues escalated by Customer Security Administrators (CSA) and Customer Service Engineer.
Accountable for working in conjunction with customers, as well as vendors, to troubleshoot applications and services connecting through an SSL VPN gateway.
Ensures timely manner of meeting client Service Level Agreements in terms of uptime, change requests, and troubleshooting.
Ensure timely communication regarding high visibility incidents.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A two-year degree, or equivalent networking and support experience is a must.
Escalation experience necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Solid understanding of UNIX and UNIX variants (Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD,etc)
Strong understanding of various internet protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, FTP, SSH, LDAP, AD, HTTP, SSL, VPN, PKI, SNMP, SMTP, IMAP, SMB, RADIUS, etc.).
Shell scripting (KSH, BASH, CSH) highly desirable.
Experience in remote LAN access and authentication products such as LDAP, Active Directory and RADIUS.
Experience with network analysis tools such as Ethereal, tcpdump and snoop are important for the candidate's success in this position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially important when creating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) upon customer request.
Ability to interpret adapt, and apply processes and procedures.
Experience with production application and server support.
Ability to analyze, investigate and solve problems (i.e. Very strong troubleshooting skills).
Self motivated and able to work under minimal management/supervision.
Responsible; exhibits sense of ownership to see customer issue through til a resolution is achieved.
Flexible; the ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constant use of keyboard and mouse as well as multiple computer monitors.
Minutes to a couple hours of phone calls.
