Software Application Engineer - Big Data Analytics Calxeda, Inc.

At Calxeda, you will utilize your established technical expertise to expand the software solutions in the Big Data Market. Your leadership will result in the architecture, design and development of critical features and capabilities that enable the Calxeda system solutions to deliver performance/watt/$$$ results that have never before been possible for Hadoop-based solutions. You will work closely with strategic software partners in the Big Data solution space, as well as with early stage end users deploying Calxeda solutions. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated track record of creating innovative Hadoop and related data analytic solutions for the server market that have resulted in true technological breakthroughs. With your industry experience you will be expected to contribute to the program from day one.
Responsibilities:
--Deliver core Hadoop software porting, design, development and optimization targeted to Calxeda Platforms.
--Design and develop differentiating tools and infrastructure for Big Data solutions and analytic software.
--Work closely with software partners to optimize existing Big Data solutions and infrastructure on Calxeda platforms as well as influence key partner roadmaps and priorities.
--Engage with lead end users for initial solution deployment and optimization.
--Participate in and influence key Open Source projects that are core to the broader Big Data Community.
--Clearly document all design work and ensure that customer documentation is complete and accurate.
--Drive key feature enhancements back into Calxeda development teams across software engineering, systems development and SoC design and impact the definition of next-generation architectures.
Education/Qualifications:
--BS degree in Computer Science or related fields; advanced degree a plus.
--Expert knowledge in Java and C/C++ application development.
--Strong systems knowledge of Linux system architecture and fundamentals.
--5+ years of experience with Data Analytics and Large Scale Storage.
--3+ years' experience in Hadoop platform design, development and optimization.
--ARM architecture experience a plus.
--Demonstrated expertise in and understanding of persistent storage, coherence and Database fundamentals.
--Large scale cluster server architecture knowledge and development expertise.
--Ability to build strong technical relationships with partners and customers.
--Self-motivated and driven to continuously improve personal and professional skills combined with openness to constructive feedback.
--Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
