The Myspace SecDev team fights against crackers, spammers, imposters and bullies. The team uses their technical and soft skills to thwart the enemies' attempts to take down the site or exploit users for fraudulent or other malicious reasons. The range of threats runs the gamut from distributed denial of service attacks to imposter profiles.
While the team uses known techniques to battle against common attacks, they are also tasked with creating novel countermeasures for emergent threats in this neverending war.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
?Proactively investigate and protect against phishing, malware, spam and fake accounts. Knowledge of Splunk or SQL are a plus.
?Collaborate with the Data Mining team to build systems capable of detecting patterns of abuse, including the use of signal detection, complex event processing, and machine learning.
?Work with the internal tools team to build and enhance content review and scrub systems.

?BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience. Those with degrees in criminal justice or psychology with the requisite software development and architectural experience will also be considered.
?A passion for the rigors of the cloak and dagger subterfuge required to successfully fend off the bad guys on the internet. This includes creation of honeypots, white hat vulnerability testing, and infiltration of malicious bot nets.
?The exceptional candidate will have experience with machine learning and general data mining techniques including using Hadoop based technologies.
