Position Description
The Architect represents the viewpoint of a customer. By virtue of his/her experience in managing and enabling large-scale web content production in real life, the Architect ensures that workflows, usage scenarios, business needs, and product features that are critical or relevant to the customer base are adequately represented and accurately prioritized. The Architect is also actively involved in working with the business for aiding in project sizing and user story requirements definition.
Responsibilities:
The Architect will be responsible for ensuring good development practices such as loosely coupled components, code re-use, shared services, shared components and the like are being considered and worked into the release plans and that the design is clearly documented and communicated and consistent with a high level vision for the product line.
The Architect is responsible for architectural and design vision and will ensure it is consitently implemented across all his/her projects.
The architect is responsible for delivering business value to customers by architecting effective information systems solutions that address the NewEgg?s business problems, needs and opportunities, in a manner consistent with NewEgg's strategic and business goals.
Have knowledge of architectural frameworks, methodologies, and tools and understand how to apply this knowledge to successfully deliver customer projects.
Establish and maintain a professional working relationship at multiple levels both internally and with the customer by understanding the customer?s business context and their unique situation.
Collaborate with both internal and external/industry experts to anticipate customer needs in order to facilitate the definition and development of the solution.
Strong supporters of the professional development framework for their profession and use the knowledge and best practice derived from their professional associations to the benefit of their customers.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure effective and efficient development, delivery, deployment, operation and support of these IS solutions. Collaborate with the NewEgg team to meet or exceed revenue, product, customer satisfaction and market share goals as assigned.
This position is a hands-on development position. The Architect will be responsible for prototyping ideas as well as implementing production code.
Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
12+ years Software design, code & test experience
10 years experience in software design and development
6 years experience in a complex content production environment involving web, wireless and print channels
Experience with complex content acquisition from third-party systems or sources.
Experience working with content management distribution
Ability to design and code medium to large size projects. Strong design and architectural skills.
Self motivated and results-orientated
Able to clearly document and communicate a design to team members
Superior engineering core skills (data structures & algorithms, coding, formal test techniques, etc.)
Excellent written & verbal skills
GUI design and prototyping skills
Strong experience with Object-Oriented Design & Implementation, Java, Javascript a must. Strong Java/J2EE skills
Experience with large databases and systems, SQL skills
Experience with AJAX, Perl, shell scripts, Javascript, .NET
Strong experience with Object Relational Mapping (ORM)
Excellent knowledge of object oriented analysis, design and programming (OOA/OOD/OOP), MVC and other design patterns
Experience developing on Windows Asp .NET & UNIX platforms.
Strong knowledge of XML and related technologies such as XSD, JAXB, XSLT
Must be proficient with Ant, CVS, JSP, Servlets, HTML
Experienced building Web Services and JMS
Hadoop, Cassandra
Apache, Linux
Experienced building unit tests, especially using NUnit and JUnit
Experience coding using a source code control system. Ability to tag, branch and merge code.
Experience with web site Front End design and implementation.
Experience using web frameworks.
Thorough knowledge of bandwith, efficiencies, loadbalancing, security issues
Experience with Agile development methodologies, especially Scrum
Able to multitask and resolve multi-faceted issues with creativity and minimal direction
Able to understand business problems from the end user/customer point of view
Must be flexible and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Able to design and build secure systems
BS in CS, CIS, or Math or equivalent
