Software Architect Kiva Systems

The Kiva software team is developing a complex material handling software application for
deployment in large-scale customer factory solutions. The fault-tolerant and scalable serverbased
application consists of many modules and user interfaces running across a set of client
workstations. The application includes a high-performance, real-time database and is used for
the control of semi-autonomous mobile robotic vehicles.
For our growing team, Kiva is seeking a talented and motivated hands-on Software Architect.
The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both
independently and in team settings. This candidate should be incredibly sharp and possess the
desire, drive and energy needed to launch new products on short time lines.
As a Kiva Systems Software Architect you will be responsible for:
Synthesizing requirements from several internal sources.
Writing functional specifications including requirements and detailed use cases for new
product features.
Developing and documenting high level designs for new product features and strategic
architecture programs
Explaining designs and constraints to stakeholders.
Working closely with development teams during detailed design and implementation.
Analyzing and ensuring performance requirements are met.
Reviewing test plans with Kivas software quality assurance team.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
6-10 years related work experience
Software design experience in complex, multi-tasking, real-time, highly availability
systems
Experience with relational databases, mySQL preferred
Experience working in small, highly focused teams
Bachelors in Computer Science or related field, Masters preferred
Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming and XML, Java preferred.
