THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Aircell Software Certifications Engineer oversees various Aircraft projects of significant magnitude in terms of complexity, cost, time-constraints, internal and external staffing.
Will provide direction to individuals or a project team including assignment of individual responsibilities, tasks and technical functions as required, with internal or external (supplier) teams and the FAA. Will identify needs and allocate the appropriate resources to meet the timely completion of specific project tasks including STC?s and TSO?s. Will continually monitor individual and broad progress to ensure compliance to specific deadlines and goals. Uses a broad knowledge of technical resources effectively to coordinate team members and resources including FAA officials. Will confer with software engineering or administrative management regarding technical or changes of significant consequence to the scope or schedule of the project.
Most assignments usually last more than 3 months and include considerable interface with project personnel, customers and potentially the FAA and delegates (i.e. DER?s, DAR?s, and DMIR?s).

Candidate will work with an experienced and talented software development team in the software design for new and sustaining DO-178B Level C or higher, FAA certified Aircell products.
Tasks will require leading a strong software development team through a complete product development cycle ultimately yielding FAA certification for Aircell products from cradle to grave.
Successful execution of assigned tasks requires detailed knowledge and experience in DO-178C or higher software development techniques, meeting program schedules and budgets.
Candidate will assume the lead in the composition and presentation of formal Certification Software Design Reviews, successfully meeting all entry and exit criteria for major presentations with programs.
Candidate will be intimately familiar with DO-178C or higher development cycles and FAA certification processes, progressively advancing solutions through the planning, design, implementation, and testing phases including FAA certification.
Specific tasks to be completed might include development of a PSAC and management of subcontractors.
The Senior Software Certifications Project Engineer will generate detailed, measurable artifacts to evidence progress in support of key program milestones while directing the software team during the course of the development. This will include an understanding of cost and schedule reporting and measurement.
The position utilizes the DOORS requirements management tool to document software design and trace back to system level requirements and into system test cases.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineer or equivalent experience. Master?s degree preferred.
7 + years of embedded software development experience, preferably in a data communications/telecommunications environment.
Required Experience, Skills and Talents
Proven knowledge of RTCA/DO-178C design process requirements.
In-depth experience as a Software Engineer developing software and utilizing open source in data communications and telecommunications systems.
Experience developing software at both the platform layer and at the application layer.
Proven leadership skills, including team and project management, in both in-sourced and out-sourced software development.
Technical writing skills to support engineering teams including the creation, editing or reviewing of DO178C related documents.
Proven track record of problem solving, broad thinking and high level of energy and urgency.
Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as working inclusively within a multidisciplinary or multicultural team.
Flexibility and a positive attitude towards change in a fast moving environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Talents
Software configuration management skills and tools; Subversion experience preferred.
Industry experience with VoIP/SIP a strong plus.
Cost account management and/or Budget management a plus.
Ability and desire to become a company DER.
Current FAA Systems & Equipment DER or DAR/IS status will get preference.
