Duties & Responsibilities Position Description:
Senior level SCM (Software Configuration Management) engineer with 6+ years of experience in source code control, change management, product build, software development, software integration, software packaging, software release. The SCM engineer is a member of the LitePoint IT organization. He/she will work closely with R&D build and release engineers and provide full-time support for software source code configuration management for SVN, CVS, Jira, Wiki and other IT systems dedicated for Engineering development requirements.
Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on SVN, CVS system access, source code configuration, & change management.
Work closely with Engineering managers and build/release engineers to re-architect SVN repositories based on project / repository source code dependencies.
Work closely with Engineering build / release engineers to manage source code on multiple servers for multiple branches in SVN & CVS.
Set up new SVN servers and work with WanDisco consultants to complete SVN multi-site replication project. Manage & monitor day-to-day multi-site SVN replication & resolve user & repository issues as required.
Analyze, plan, recommend best practice in CVS to SVN migration and assist Engineering with CVS to SVN conversion and repository creation & management.
Analyze, plan, recommend best practice in branching / merging / labeling strategies and release baselines to SVP of Engineering & implement the best practice upon approval.
Set up the SCM standards/processes and CM system for development groups based on approved policies.
Write triggers and scripts for CVS and SVN administration, automation, and enforcement of security and access policy.
Define and document processes and procedures for software development, validation, build, and release.
Implement SVN, Jira, and Wiki integration as required.
Manage SVN, CVS, Jira, Wiki user access control, account activation/de-activation, and generate monthly account & access reports for internal engineering audits.
Provide end-user support for baseline builds, merges, software release management, and other SCM activities as directed by SVP of Engineering.
Manage engineering software development tool licenses and assist with development tool installation and configuration.
Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required
Must have extensive technical knowledge of software build & release, and software deployment methodologies and processes.
Must have 6+ years of hands-on SCM & CM experience in SVN, CVS, Atlassian Jira, Confluence (Wiki) administration, setup, configuration, and user support.
Must have project management level experience in developing and implementing SCM & CM processes & expert knowledge in SCM tools such as SVN and CVS.
Must have experience and knowledge of SDLC as a software developer, process analyst, release/build engineer, and/or SCM/CM administrator.
Must have expertise in CMS/CM methodology, branching/merging strategies, and release baselines in a multi-sited SVN environment.
Must have expertise in Linux system administration and ability to write Perl, shell, and batch scripts for SCM automation and management.
Must have hands-on experience in supporting users in SVN client check-in & check-out and to train new developers on SVN repository structures.
Highly desirable: experience with multi-site SVN replication using Wandisco technology.
Highly desirable: experience with CVS to SVN migration and conversion.
Highly desirable: experience with Citrix VDI technology and sound understanding Linux/Widows networking fundamentals.
