Software & Controls Engineer Nordic Windpower

expanding global wind market. Nordic?s N1000 is a simple, light-weight 1MW wind turbine known for its unsurpassed
ease of installation and maintenance, exceptional reliability, and low cost of energy generation. Nordic?s vision is to be
the leading utility scale wind turbine provider for community wind, on-site generation and small wind farms.
We are seeking engineers who would like to be part of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, developing, designing
and testing prototype wind turbines for multiple markets. Be instrumental in driving through the design to
manufacturing process, into commercial production and supporting the Company operations.
We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Software & Controls Engineer to join Nordic Windpower in the
U.S. In this position, you will be working with our engineering office in the UK to design and specify the real time
embedded software control and communication systems for our turbines and implement them in software. Working
with specialist suppliers of distributed control systems, embedded micro controllers, PLC?s and advanced sensors, you
will influence our leading-edge wind turbine design. Interfacing with Nordic?s Operations and Maintenance
organizations, component suppliers, specialist consultants as well as our internal procurement, quality and
manufacturing departments, you will be responsible for solving challenging control and software problems while
working within tight timeframes.
? Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required; Master's degree is preferred.
? Significant, relevant engineering experience in designing and troubleshooting code and equipment on a complex
industrial machine is required. 2-5 years of wind industry experience is preferred.
? Demonstrated strengths are required in relevant programming languages. You will be using IEC61131 languages and
C/C++. Experience in other programming languages such as: Java, Visual Basic, Matlab/Simulink, C# and LabView will be
? Proven abilities in three of the following disciplines is required:
o Communication networks, (CAN, Profibus, RS232, RS422/485, Ethernet, Modbus)
o Control Theory
o Electrical systems design and introduction
o Hydraulic systems design and introduction
o Configuration Control
? Travel will be required both domestically and internationally.
