Software Developer, Search Experience Redfin
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED As a developer on the Search team, your job is to make searching for a home as easy (and addictive!) as searching for your favorite LOLcat pic. The Search team takes an incredibly complicated, largely offline search process and makes in to an easy, fun, AJAX-y, iPhone-y experience. From the first moment that a user types in 'www.redfin.com' to the moment he or she submits an offer through Redfin, the Search Team is responsible for making sure that the user gets all the information about all the houses for sale, whenever the user wants and wherever the user is.
We've built a bleeding-edge real estate search site with hordes of rabid fans and an iPhone app that was featured in Apple's TV ad campaign, but we're not even close to done. Come help us create the next set of mobile, UGC, and next-generation user interface features that will make Redfin the best site about real estate ever.
Who you really are: You are a rockstar developer who thinks like an end user, who knows that 90% done is only half done, and who can build rock-solid code that will withstand millions of users banging on it. You love beautiful, simple user interfaces, and you constantly wonder what you could have done to make your last project simpler. You love working with a smart, talented team, because you know that makes you better, and when you disagree, you disagree constructively, with respect for everyone else's opinions and ideas.
The Tools: There is a ton of Dojo, a big heap of Spring/JSP/HTML, Linux, Apache/Tomcat, some Java, a bit of jUnit,a dash of Postgres and Hibernate, and a host of other open source development tools. We don't expect you to have used all these tools, although it's great if you have. The most important thing is that you pick up new technologies quickly and eagerly.
What you'll get from us: Support and resources to continue learning, a brilliant team with which to collaborate, an office in downtown San Francisco close to all the action, and a commitment to your career so you can grow with the company under a management team that has experience building start-ups into profitable, publicly traded companies.
Apply with a summary of your experience and a few ideas on what you think would make Redfin's site better.
