Job Overview:
The Software Development Engineer, Senior will assist in the development of TripIt's core web application. You are passionate about developing new technologies and have a good sense of product design, experience in web application development (we use PHP for the backend), solid development habits (e.g. unit testing, technical design documentation, etc...), solid experience with frontend web technologies (HTML, CSS, and Javascript), and are not afraid to dive into new and unfamiliar technologies.
Position Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent years of work experience.
4+ years of professional software development experience:
Strong understanding of web and web-related technologies
Server-side application development experience with PHP required
Additional experience with Python and/or Perl and/or Ruby is preferred
Strong experience with Client-side application development in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Significant professional experience with SQL and development of database-backed web applications
Strong knowledge of one or more relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, or Oracle)
Experience with MySQL is preferred
Solid understanding of memcache
Experience with Symfony is a plus
Experience developing consumer web applications preferred
Solid development habits and practices
Experience with and enthusiasm for working in Agile environments preferred
Experience developing technical design documentation and participating in a technical design and code peer review process
Natural problem-solver and troubleshooter
Comfortable working in a GNU Linux/Unix environment
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to pass a background check.
