Job DescriptionAs the Manager of the software development group, you will be responsible for technical leadership, project management, resource and budget planning, defining and delivering robust software for our XF product line. You will have direct management responsibility for a team of developers and software QA personnel to plan, execute and deliver software products which include; user interface, instrument control and data analysis. Working with a team of developers, this position will provide technical leadership for designing and implementing software solutions, using Agile methodologies, to achieve broad company goals. This position has a large amount of discretion in the implementation of solutions and architecture. You will be responsible for: conception and implementation of the UI, architecture and analysis tools which deliver a world class user experience. You will define and manage project goals, specifications, schedule and resources to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
Job Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree, Master's Degree preferred and a minimum 10 years of experience in Software Design, with 3 years? experience in leading software development groups using Agile methodologies. Demonstrated ability to define lead, mentor, and coach a team to achieve successful commercial releases of high quality software. Requires experience in development of software that is integrated with hardware, preferably in instrumentation, medical, or biotechnology. The individual must have up to date knowledge of fundamental concepts, a variety of applicable software languages, and modern software development tools.
Job Summary
Provide technical and strategic leadership during the development phase to define system architecture, specifications, features, risks, schedules and budgets.
Work effectively with other departments (Biology, applications, manufacturing, sales and marketing) and company management to solicit input and buy-in for development objectives.
Generate plans and manage product development throughout life cycle (feasibility, development, launch and support).
Responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining software development practices.
Direct supervision and career development of software development staff.
Leading the development of system solutions, in collaboration with other senior systems engineers, to solve new product and ongoing technical issues.
Communicates well in both written and verbal form, to identify product needs.
Manage contract resources, based either on-site or remotely.
Leads and directs software testing and resolves issues and SW bugs arising during software test and product validation.
Maintain a good working knowledge of industry standard software development and debugging tools.
Perform other job related duties as required.
Location
The position is based in our Billerica, MA headquarters. This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
