SilkRoad is seeking a self-motivated Software Development Manager in the Boston area to help lead our critical integration technology initiatives across our software products. The Manager will provide strategic direction for applications and systems development and maintenance of current and future technologies. The ideal candidate should be 20% hands on technical (can lead by example or provide technical leadership), 50% management and 30% architecture (can develop a vision for the technology future). Identifies new technologies and tools to support and improve our ?life suite? of products. Provides strategic guidance and technical assistance.
Maintaining and extending SilkRoad applications as agreed to with product management;
Controlling and tracking project performance, time allocations, and quality by constantly evaluating project progress and conducting regular team status meetings;
Working with support and operations to quickly diagnose, correct and prevent future occurrences of application performance and stability issues;
Contributing to the overall strategic leadership, vision, and execution of technology projects and solutions, ensuring support of company's business objectives;
Remaining continuously aware of business and technical issues and actively participates in the recommendation of creative solutions;
Working with Product Management in order to fully understand business priorities of the organization as a whole.
Demonstrated hands on leadership experience with the software development life cycle; from product conception through delivery, and the ability to meet aggressive schedules;
Proven experience in managing projects and delivering products on time and within scope;
A track record of hiring and building high performance software teams;
Proven track record of effectively working well with people of all levels and disciplines such as Design, Application Engineering and other technical teams within the company;
Proven track record of developing commercial middleware applications; architecting and implementing large-scale software systems;
Extremely competent at a majority of the following technologies: Extensible Markup Language (XML), SQL Server 2005, Perforce; C#, ETL, SAML;
Minimum of 10 years of experience;
Experience with relational database technology;
Experience building Web Service based applications;
Experience building commercial middleware;
Documented experience successfully leading a department and working effectively with senior management.
Prior HR experience.
Prior SaaS experience.
