The Opportunity: W3i is looking for an enthusiastic Software Development Manager with strong technical, analytical, and leadership experience to lead our Desktop Software Development group. Our Software Developer Managers are responsible for:
Leadership / Strategy
Responsible for resource allocation, hiring, training, reviewing performance, and developing team members under the direction of the CTO
Inspiring innovation within W3i's Software Development teams
Leads strategic planning processes within the Software Development organization
Aligns Software Development priorities to match business objectives
Evangelizes strategic initiatives within Software Development and the entire organization
Technical Leadership
Maintain an expert knowledge of software development languages, tools, and practices.
Routinely evaluate tools that can assist in software development and make recommendations to management.
Lead the problem solving process when technical issues arise
Project Management
Responsible for leading the implementation the Agile software development methodologies across all teams
Participates in daily standup meetings, tri-weekly planning meeting and other team discussions related to requirements, design, security and quality.
Coordinates multi-team projects by leading estimation, planning and execution
Works closely with Operations and Product Management to define project scope and detailed requirements
Provides organizational visibility to key development metrics
Operations
Responsible for coordination of production deployments
Ensures proper quality control procedures
Oversees efforts to coordinate technical documentation
Coordinates on-call responsibilities across all teams
Coordinates build process, source control and deployment responsibilities.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
5+ years of related experience required.
Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills required.
Experience programming with .NET and C# required.
Experience with C++, Adobe Air and Flex is a plus
Strong OO development experience and working knowledge of MSSQL and/or Oracle.
Experience in an agile development environment is required
