This position is part of RIM's recently acquired Gist group, located in Seattle's historical Pioneer Square. In this role you will experience the best of the start-up Agile environment, while working directly with highly distributed and scalable solutions. We work in a dynamic environment that utilizes multiple programming languages on various platforms. Our product is an extremely powerful "personal relationship management" social networking tool that proactively delivers you the most important information about your key relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Software Development Manager at GIST, you will be accountable for end-to-end identification, development and introduction of new BlackBerry products, features, solutions and/or accessories. This role is chiefly responsible for providing business and technical leadership to various internal RIM stakeholders in development, product management and marketing/channel marketing to support product delivery strategies. The Software Development Manager role has input into technical product roadmaps and supports end-to-end product life cycle of assigned products. You will provide business leadership with respect to customer requirements, to external and/or customer facing stakeholders as well as direct leadership of all development activities within a given project.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

Contribute to product definition and functional specifications.
Communicate to a subset of the organization what the product is, when it will be available and overall positioning etc.
Work with software development to define the necessary technical specification, architecture and approach for the product.
Identify development tasks, contribute to estimates and track progress of development.
Perform code reviews of newly developed software.
Contribute to development activities when necessary.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
6+ years of experience in the high tech industry
Experience as a Senior Developer or Lead Developer
5+ years developing in Java, C++, Python or Ruby on Rails
Experience managing a small (4-8) developers and a track record of successfully delivering product to market
Problem solving skills - able to work the matrix to get decisions and resolutions
Resilient and self-motivating
