Software Engineer (Analytics/Big Data)
Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Analytics/Big Data Software Engineer will be responsible for analysis and manipulation of a large volume of network traffic data to answer specific questions and identify unanticipated correlations in the data.
Job Descriptions & Responsibilities
Design, document and implement complex algorithms for Solera Networks analytics tools.
Work with product management to understand key business problems to be solved; create mathematical approaches to analyze and solve those problems.
Required Skills:
Ability to identify, research and quantify business problems using statistical analyses on large data sets
Experience with Hadoop/MapReduce and other related technologies
Familiarity with statistics/math programming platforms & languages (SPSS, MATLAB, R, etc.)
Strong database experience
Proven ability to utilize creative "out-of-the-box" thinking to solve complex engineering problems
Strong skills in Object Oriented language (C++, C#, Java)
Experience with Linux development environment
Experience with software testing, quality assurance and working closely with QA
Very strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Additional Experience:
Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel experience
Experience with Python, Perl, and JavaScript
Knowledge of Eclipse, NetBeans or other Linux IDE's
Familiarity with pattern-matching theory and applications
Minimum Qualifications:
BS Degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience
5 years of related experience in the software industry
