Etsy's external developer community is thriving. A couple hundred apps are built upon our public API. Our private APIs are integral to Etsy.com and our own mobile apps.We are seeking an API Lead to grow our web services platform and developer program (www.etsy.com/developers). As the ideal candidate for this position, you have a blend of technical prowess and leadership ability, as well as a strong sense for building great products. Your outer geek is as strong as your inner geek. You evangelize whatever you?re working on because you know that it?s the best thing out there, but you?re always trying to make it better. You have written rate-limiting code and know when it?s better to use someone else?s or use your own. You have contributed to open source. You love enabling people with data. You know when to delegate and when to dig deep. You hold yourself and your team accountable for every action.

About the Job
Design, plan, and develop the Etsy Developer API.
Exposing additional core data models to the public developer community.
Coordinate API development across Etsy's various functional engineering teams.
Expand and evangelize Etsy?s developer community.
Identify, drive and report on key performance indicators on the 3rd-party app ecosystem.
Translate competing priorities into product requirements, project plans, and deliverables.
Develop and mentor team members.
About You
6+ years of engineering experience.
Demonstrable experience implementing high-performance, high-availability, and highly-scalable systems at a consumer-facing web site with hundreds of millions of page views and millions of passionate users.
Strong database scaling experience at the application level.
Experience building developer-facing APIs, documentation and support programs
Experience with developer outreach
Established within the open source community
Ability to optimize solutions based on developer experience, time to market, cost, and long-term sustainability
Familiarity with legal issues surrounding open source software
Working knowledge of core data structures and algorithms
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience
