As a Full-time software engineer in FirstBest, you will research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on product offerings and help revolutionize the Insurance industry. Our product suite is used daily by multi-billion dollar insurance carriers to improve their productivity and business practices and increase profits. As an industry leader, we strive to maintain technical superiority in all aspects of our software, and are committed to bringing the brightest minds onto our engineer team.Working side-by-side with senior technical members, you will learn to effectively use a wide range of Open Source libraries in the JEE space, and become proficient in designing and building scalable, user-friendly solutions with real-time capabilities. Example of domains include, UI Development with AJAX, HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript/JSON and similar technologies, Back-end Server and Database development with Spring MVC, RESTful architecture, Web Services, Hibernate ORM or MyBatis, Mobile Development (iOS), and Developer Tools & Automation frameworks.
Besides practicing sound computer science design principles, and delivering value in a high-paced, collaborative, and supportive start-up environment, you will also be a member of a tightly knit group of exceptionally smart individuals with many talents.
What we?re looking for?
Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
Software development experience in Java and J2EE technologies in complex, multi-faceted server applications.
Past experience developing high throughput, scalable, multi-threaded software in an n-Tier or MVC architecture.
Experience working with Open Source frameworks: Spring, Hibernate, JBoss/Tomcat, Drools, JBPM, and JAXB a plus.
Experience working with RDBMS (MySQL, Oracle, or DB2) and proven mastery of SQL. Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB or CouchDB) is a plus.
Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) using Web Services, REST, JSON/SOAP, and XML.
Exposure to OAUTH, Single Sign-On (SSO) and Web Security concepts.
Familiarity with latest Web Development trends and concepts for building rich web-based interfaces. Exposure to HTML5 / CSS 3, JavaScript, and Flex is a plus.
Excellent programming discipline: data structures, complexity analysis, object oriented principles, design patterns
Proven verbal and written communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
Exceptional technical aptitude with superior problem solving skills and a self-directed, proactive approach to tackling problems and working through impediments.
Commitment to Agile / Scrum methodology, ScrumMaster experience is a plus
Must be a high energy, confident, and ambitious individual with strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently work in a cross-functional environment
