JOB SUMMARY
The Software Engineer will focus on understanding requirements, creating designs, developing and unit testing software solutions for telephony and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) applications using VXML, .NET and other industry standard technologies.
The Software Engineer will work with internal Gold Systems teams including Project Management, Quality Assurance and Human Factors Design. In addition, the Software Engineer will work directly with customers to understand their requirements, communicate a software design approach, troubleshoot reported issues, and deploy the finished software application.
The Software Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment and must have the ability to multitask, possibly working on several project deliverables during concurrent time frames. The Software Engineer may also be involved in software support issues from time to time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned to reflect the needs of the business.
Working independently and as part of a team to architect, design, develop and test custom IVR software solutions.
Understand and effectively use technologies commonly used in IVR applications including VXML and .NET.
Work with project management and customers to understand requirements, analyze and resolve issues, and ultimately deploy successful software solutions.
Communicate technical solutions in design and other specifications documents.
Work with technical management to help foster and refine Gold Systems? development best practices.
REQUIRED CAPABILITIES
The Software Engineer will possess prerequisite technical skills, including:
Five or more years software engineering experience in all aspects of the project lifecycle (specs/design, delivery, testing).
MS .NET experience (3+ years preferred)
Direct experience with speech technologies including one or more of the following: MS OCS Speech Server, MS/Tellme, VXML, MS managed code (in an OCS Speech Server context), Text-To-Speech software, MS Workflow.
ASP.NET Web Applications
JavaScript experience highly desired.
Experience calling web service APIs from JavaScript and/or .NET.
Hands on experience using MS SQL databases in software solutions.
Experience using SVN or other source code control systems.
Capable of working independently or in team environments.
Strong written and verbal communications.
Ability to work directly with end customers and partners throughout a project
Resourceful and creative, organized problem solving ability
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, including Visio
DESIRED CAPABILITIES
Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
Ability to quickly build working relationships in a team environment
Knowledge or experience in telephony and/or with IVR systems (from Avaya, Qwest, MS or others)
EDUCATION
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Engineering, or related field
