WhitePages has been a leader in People Search since 1996, and at the beginning of 2010 we launched a completely new Business Search product that adds a whole new dimension to our user experience. As a new product, Business Search has only just started the exciting process of continually improving our features and usability, and were looking to add a top-notch software engineer to our team as we continue to redefine Local Business Search for our top 50 website.

Requirements

- In-depth knowledge of JavaScript and CSS
- Experience with HTML/XHTML
- Solid understanding of software development life cycles; experience working with agile a plus
- Proven ability to write clean code that works
- Demonstrated experience in created real world websites with established traffic or user bases
- Ability to code in at least one of: Ruby, Perl, Java, Python, C/C++/C
- Knowledge of one or more web development frameworks
- BS or advanced degree in CS, CSE or EE, or equivalent experience



Bonus Points

- Experience with XSLT, modperl and/or XML
- Database development experience
- Development experience in Linux environment
- Understanding of one or more areas of relevant expertise: search engine design, people search, distributed computing, database optimization, messaging, VOIP, social networking, mobile applications, web design.
