Software Engineer - Front End Mashery

We're looking for talented Front End Engineer to build first class tools that allow our customers to support, document, and build communities around their APIs.

The past few years have seen radical changes in how web applications have been built, with open APIs and the rise of the app economy. Now, more than ever, a developer can leverage thousands of web services and build products across dozens of platforms for profit, fame, or just plain fun.

Mashery doesn'tt build APIs (other than our own); we help companies that provide APIs manage their APIs and connect with the developers that use them.


How do you think API providers should engage with their developer communities What tools will API providers and developers need We are looking for developers who are passionate about writing code, open APIs, and developer communities.

Key Product Responsibilities:

Creating solid functional customizations in a JavaScript agnostic fashion
JavaScript apps that can make API calls and manipulate the results to present to a user
Visual analytics from backend data
API documentation creation, browsing, and annotation tools
Content embedding and page layout tools
Access controls to content

We have built Mashery custom tools to offer these features to our customers and are not looking for the customization of third party software. We have a dedicated team of UI designers and CSS designers as well as full time JavaScript developers. We are looking to add a talented individual to that team.

Our code base is heavily object oriented PHP 5 with a strong domain model presentation layer separation. We use our own internal API to develop our application.

Requirements:

3 years experience after your undergraduate degree writing JavaScript applications that make API calls and that process JSON and XML results
Experience creating JavaScript applications that do not rely on third party libraries or frameworks
Strong object oriented programming skills
Experience with multi-tenant web applications and APIs
Some experience with other web development languages
Someone who strives to produce better code everyday
Is detail oriented & has strong problem solving skills
Communicates well with their peers and project stakeholders
Is able to work independently yet collaborate effectively
Education Bachelors degree or applicable work experience

Helpful experience

PHP, Web Services, Mysql, Automated UI Testing, UI Design, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, HTTP, CDN, Blogging, Forum participation or moderation

This position is located in San Francisco (close to BART, MUNI, & Caltrain); must be local or willing to relocate. Were conveniently located on Market Street in downtown San Francisco, a half-block from BART and Muni.
