| Description: | As a software engineer in test you will be joining the team that builds Lombardi's award-winning products and help verify the quality of next major version of our enterprise product. Lombardi is looking for a professional software developer who has at least 5 years of experience writing software products in a fast-growing environment. This role covers both the development of automated testing infrastructure as well as modifying the core product to make it more testable through the addition of new APIs and other techniques. Applicants are expected to have a passion for delivering high-quality enterprise software and being able to work with "black box", "white box", and unit testing methodologies. Proficiency as a software developer is a must. Responsibilities Do "whatever it takes" to ship Lombardi's software with a high degree of quality, including: Enable software and test engineers to more effectively and efficiently do their job through the development of automation testing infrastructure. Develop hardware and software solutions for stress testing and scalability. Work with software engineers to craft patches for performance problems in the software, including defect fixing and re-architecting with an eye towards performance and/or scalability. Work with existing customer installations to identify performance and scalability problems in the field. Collaborate with software development, professional services and support organization to resolve issues. Maximize value of the testing team with process improvement and tools. Requirements Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in commercial product development using several of the following skills and technologies: Computer Science degree. Diligence, flexibility, patience and attention to detail. Java programming and debugging experience, shell scripting and build automation (ANT) experience. Experience planning and executing performance, stress and endurance tests on Java-based and web application(s) or J2EE enterprise applications. Experience with several operating systems oMicrosoft Windows Vista / XP / 2003 oLinux oCommercial Unixes Experience with several application servers oBEA WebLogic 9.x/10.x oIBM WebSphere 5.x/6.x oJBoss Experience with several relational databases oOracle Database oMicrosoft SQL Server oIBM DB2 Experience developing automated tests and tests frameworks with common commercial testing tools including JUnit, Rational Functional Tester, SilkTest, and/or Watij/Watir is a plus. Experience working with continuous build systems such as TeamCity is a plus. Virtualization technologies, such as VMWare Server, ESX or Lab Manager a plus. Working knowledge of statistics is a plus. There is no relocation for this position. All applicants must be local to Austin, Texas. |
