Software Engineer - Languages Team Greenplum

EMC Greenplum builds the world's largest Data Warehouses at true petabyte-scale, EMC Greenplum is committed to pioneering massively parallel data-intensive analytic processing. We are looking for talented individuals to join our team and explore and develop features as a member of our Product Engineering team.
As a key member of the team, you will:

• own the design process, implementation, and verification of components such as statistical analysis features in the core database engine
• develop SQL language features
• integrate new data analysis languages
• invent solutions to customer data analysis requirements
• participate in building
• Build tools and frameworks for parallel programming, and build analytic functions with these tools
• We're serious about quality, you will also be:

1. writing unit tests,
2. writing automated regression tests, and
3. tracking and fixing defects as they are found

• prototype novel ideas
• turn prototypes into enterprise class software

To be successful, you will have most of the following:

• Extensive experience in C or C++.
• Experience in parsing, (yacc/bison, ANTLR, JavaCC, or Parse::RecDescent)
• Familiarity with parallel programming frameworks like MapReduce or Hadoop
• Strong statistical knowledge, and preferably experience working with software like R or SAS
• Familiarity with the Unix programming environments and GNU tools
• Strong scripting skills in Perl or Python
• An understanding of parallel and distributed algorithms
• Background in database internals
• Experience with commercial software engineering methodologies
• Experience with both traditional waterfall and agile software project management styles
• Strong communications skills
• Degree in Computer Science (preferably advanced)
