Kiva Systems, Inc. uses game-changing automation technology for distribution centers that helps companies simplify operations and reduce costs while increasing strategic flexibility. Using hundreds of autonomous mobile robots and sophisticated control software, the Kiva Mobile-robotic Fulfillment System enables extremely fast cycle times with reduced labor requirements, from receiving to picking to shipping.
For our fast growing movement and equipment engineering team, Kiva is seeking multiple talented and motivated software engineers responsible for the following:
Responsibilities:
Develop features for various components of Kiva's MHS software
Design and define the interaction between the other component pieces.
Build fault tolerant software for lowest operational tax as possible
Reports status of project progress in timely and accurate fashion, using available metrics.
Triages software bugs
Work with hardware engineers to evaluate interface between hardware and software
Develop technical specs.
Requirements:
B.S. degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent.
3+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
Proficient in multiple programming languages such as Java, C++.
Very proficient in OO design.
Understanding of multi-threaded programming.
Experience with equipment control software
Strong communication skills and effective team player
Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently and in team settings
Able to deliver an entire system component or an application, and serve as a technical lead on small to midsize complex projects.
Desired qualifications:
Equipment control, coordination and management
Experience writing communication software to interface with equipment
Experience writing low-level equipment control
Some experience writing embedded code, including PLC
Experience with higher-level equipment logic and integration within a complex system
