In this position you will develop, optimize, and adapt embedded Linux Board Support Packages (BSPs) for Freescale standard Power Architecture and ARM-based embedded processor platforms across the entire solution lifecycle; including: project proposals, specifications, authoring and editing software code, quality assurance, release management, and support. In addition to close collaboration with Freescale hardware engineers and project managers, this position also has interaction with the Freescale sales team, customers and third-party solution providers.
As an Embedded Software Developer at Freescale, you will be responsible for the design and development of drivers and system-level OS components for adaptations of Linux to various platforms (primarily ARM and Power Architecture family processors). Additional responsibilities include the following:
Peripheral driver development and adaptation
OEM adaptation layer (OAL), power management and boot-up coding
Debugging and validation of reference BSP adaptations on target hardware
BSP maintenance and software versioning on an configuration management server
Packaging and releasing the adapted BSP
Authoring engineering documents
Coordinating efforts between on-site and remote software team members
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Good knowledge of C/C++
Familiarity with debugging, board bring-up as well as test equipment, tools and methodologies
Capability to work both independently and within a small team environment
Flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a high-energy work environment
