Kiva is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineer to work in Research & Advanced Development on the core features in our multi-robot order fulfillment systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in distributed systems, real-time control, database systems, statistics, and object-oriented design in Java or C++.
The successful candidate will participate in a team of engineers and research scientists to design and implement proof-of-concept prototype implementations of new algorithms, collect and present measurements characterizing system performance, and collaborate with software architects and engineers implementing proven innovations. Additional responsibilities include working on our cloud-based simulation environment for performing large-scale simulations to validate new algorithm performance. Further, this candidate should be familiar with fast growing companies and the associated deadlines and high-energy culture that go along with launching new products.
The Software Engineer will be responsible for:
Participating in design and implementing proof-of-concept implementations of proposed algorithms
Running large scale simulation studies to demonstrate performance
Measuring and reporting on performance of algorithms under study
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
BS/MS in Computer Science, Math, or other algorithmic-centric discipline
3-5 years of experience working in core Java, C++ or other Object Oriented languages
Experience with some or all of the following areas: distributed systems and Amazon EC2 scientific computing, real-time control and robotics, MySQL (or other database) scripting, and R statistical package scripting
Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently and in team settings
Strong communication skills and effective team player
