Software Engineer BidShift

Position Summary:

Concerro is seeking a creative, hard-working individual to join its San Diego team as a Software Engineer. Youll be based in the San Diego office. This position reports to the Director of Software Engineering.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to work with an exciting product in a growing market.

Key Activities:

Development Skills
Significant experience in agile development
Knowledge of enterprise-level deployment issues
Deeply understand relevant tools and technologies and provides sound recommendations on their use
Demonstrated ability to complete assignments within deadlines
Leverages their knowledge of software lifecycle approaches and rapid application development
Work closely with manager to adapt development methodologies to Concerros best practices
Responsibilities include design and implementation of new features for the product.
Additional responsibilities include software maintenance, architecture and process improvement, and technical documentation.

Project Planning and Scoping
Actively manage scope at the component level and identifies alternatives
Quickly evaluate complexity and risk involved in modifying requirements
Estimation
Effectively and accurately estimate application scope on component level
Assess how project risks will impact estimates

Communication
Strong ability to communicate effectively with less technically-oriented (or software-oriented) designers and clients
Consults with client services team and product management team and maintains strategic relationship
Communicates difficult scenarios to the client services team and product management team
Facilitates meetings with the client services team and product management team
Coaches and provides assistance to those at Concerro who are less familiar with software development

Additional Skills Required:
A minimum of 3 years professional Java programming experience.
Experience developing on at least one major application server (we use JBoss)
Strong knowledge of SQL and JDBC.
Experience with JSP & XML.
The ability to be productive in a UNIX/Linux environment.
Experience producing technical documentation.
5 years of professional programming experience.
Experience with JasperReports a strong plus.
Experience with Adobe Flex 3 and ActionScript 3 a strong plus.
Experience with MySQL a strong plus.
Experience integrating with / interfacing to third party applications a plus.
Experience with Ant a plus.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time

A bachelors degree in computer science (or related subject) is strongly preferred, but we will consider candidates who can demonstrate exceptional skill and/or experience in the field.
