About UsWe?re a small, Seattle-based startup disrupting the online marketing space. We use tools like Solr,
DynamoDB, S3 and MongoDB to help advertisers find target audiences in real-time from our database
of over 500 million records. Agile and TDD are a way of life for us. We were doing ?big data? and ?the
cloud? long before they were buzzwords and now we?re looking for a talented individual with 5 to 20
years of experience to join our growing team!
About You
You?re smart, tenacious, excited about learning new technologies and you get things done. You want to
work at a startup because you?re passionate about being in an environment where your efforts have a
direct impact on the success of the business. You care deeply about software design and can
communicate your ideas clearly with your teammates. Working collaboratively with other developers
comes naturally to you. You?re a software generalist, but ideally have experience in most of the
following:
? Proficiency in one or more object-oriented languages, such as Java or C++
? The AWS stack, including EC2, S3, EMR and RDS
? MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis or other NoSQL technologies
? SQL / relational database development
? Web UI frameworks, such as Wicket, Tapestry, Struts or Spring MVC
? Hibernate, JPA or other ORM frameworks
? Javascript, CSS, HTML and AJAX methodologies
? Build management tools, such as Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Cruise Control, etc.
? Ping pong (bonus points if you know who Chen Qi is)
What You?ll Do
No day at a startup is exactly the same. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and test software
features for the Marketfish platform, but you?ll also play an active role in many other areas.
A typical morning might find you engaged in a design discussion with our product marketing manager
and another developer. You might spend the afternoon writing code for a feature and then wrap up the
day troubleshooting a production issue. Or, maybe you jump into a brainstorming session about new
product ideas with our CEO and then go to lunch with the operations team and talk about automated
deployment strategies. You?ll work hard to help make Marketfish successful. But, you will also enjoy a healthy work-life
