SecondMarket is seeking experienced professionals for opportunities in our technology area to work as Software Engineers. As a Software Engineer, you will design, build and maintain SecondMarket's applications. Software Engineers work as part of a Scrum Team with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, UX Designer and other engineers to develop, test and deploy code on a weekly basis. SecondMarket?s platform is built on Amazon Web Services, Java+Spring MVC, Scala+Lift, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, ActiveMQ, Camel, and SOLR. In this position you will be responsible for building & maintaining a robust, scalable n-tier platform.
Responsibilities include:
Design & build a multi tier, asynchronous consumer facing web product
Primarily responsible for back end Rest/JSON service layers and message based system
Write server side code to build out the application to support our consumer facing and internal products
Design both traditional relational database schemas & NoSQL document based schemas
Diagnose & resolve performance and scalability issues
Perform technology and product assessments, detailed evaluations, build prototypes and final selections
Requirements:
Experience working with Java, Spring, Spring MVC, SQL, Lift/Scala, Hibernate or MyBatis technologies
Experience with technologies such as Memcached, Lucene/Solr, Mongo, OAuth, CAS
Experience implementing and managing Privacy and Security Policies
Experience of building systems to support Web 2.0 client applications
Experience building robust message based solutions
Extensive knowledge of message based routing patterns
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Experience working in an agile and product focused organization
Proven track record building large software products
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to communicate to both technical and non technical audiences
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Additionally you should;
Be passionate about writing well structured and easy to maintain code
Want to work in an environment using continuous integration and continuous deployment
Love solving complex problems
Must be self-motivated and a go getter
Possess great interpersonal skills
Desire to work in a software product organization
Be a team player willing to collaborate with others
