Software Engineer: Shipping Etsy
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Ship code. Ship stuff.
Etsy's Shipping Team is hiring engineers! Every month on Etsy over 4 million items are purchased from sellers in 200 countries. Our job is helping all of these unique items get where they need to go. We make tools for managing the shipping process, printing postage, and tracking packages, and generally making shipping clear and easy.
As an engineer on the Shipping Team, you'll be impacting peoples' lives every day. In part, your success can be measured by people spending less time and money worrying about shipping. We are in close and regular communications with our users, and when you write code that helps them out, you'll know it.
At Etsy, we work together. You'll be working closely with everyone on the Shipping Team, and with your colleagues across the engineering organization. We value generosity and initiative, and we'll be collaborating to empower creative businesses and build a human scale economy.
We're hiring for multiple positions focused on both backend services and frontend code.
Etsy's core stack relies on PHP and Mysql, along with some helpers like Gearman and Memcache. We keep it simple and we build to scale.
We interface with many external data and service providers using all manner of APIs. We also get into imaging (for postage labels), mapping and geodata, and the mobile web.
We're not necessarily looking for experts in a particular technology (but it helps), as much as we're looking for demonstrated ability to solve problems in different stacks or environments with rigor, thoughtfulness, and joy.
Send a resume along with a cover letter that tells us something about you, explains why you're interested in the position and why you'd like to work at Etsy.
If you have a presence on the web we can access (sites/apps you built, portfolio, Github profile, Twitter, etc.), please include links as well. We're looking forward to meeting you.
