The Opportunity: The Software Engineering Team Lead oversees its respective engineering team. The Software Engineering Team Lead ensures development best practices and standards are adhered to in order to consistently deliver high quality software and maintain optimum developer productivity.The Software Engineering Team Lead will:
Maintain advanced knowledge of required software development languages, tools, and practices.
Routinely evaluate tools that can assist in software development efforts and make recommendations to management.
Lead the problem solving process when technical issues arise.
Create, encourage, and enforce coding, documentation, and security standards within the development group.
Review code check-ins.
Oversee efforts to coordinate and maintain technical documentation related to Software Engineering projects and operations.
Ensure the organization's development methodology is consistently adhered to within the team.
Ensure proper quality control procedures and standards are followed.
Consistently monitor key development metrics and take actions to improve (Code Coverage, Technical Debt, Re-work Releases, Revenue Loss).
Routinely monitor product and technical exception reports to watch for development related errors or exceptions.
Routinely analyze the group's technical development, deployment processes, and systems monitoring for problems that exist and provide corrective action.
Coordinate on-call responsibilities.
Coordinate source control, monitoring, and deployment responsibilities.
Facilitate and ensure proper communication between development groups and other groups within the organization.
Work with end users to solve problems or issues related to software systems.
Coordinate and participate in daily standup meetings, tri-weekly sprint planning meetings, and other discussions or meetings related to requirements, design, security, and quality of related software systems.
Work on an on-going basis with the Business Owners to define requirements.
Fully understand business and technical requirements to related projects and support Product Management and Business Owners in communicating these requirements to the Development Team.
Ensure team meets project milestones and deadlines set with each sprint.
Report progress and risks to Business Owners and Product Manager.
Secondary Job Duties:
Attend training, seminars, and workshops as deemed necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Job Duties:
Oversee and direct the efforts of the Team.
Participate in hiring, on-boarding, training and developing employees.
Participate in setting performance expectations and goals, consistent with company vision, mission, values, culture, goals and objectives for employees and the team.
Provide performance reviews.
Participate in encouraging the development and advancement of team members including delegating meaningful assignments, providing necessary resources and instruction, and helping employees learn from mistakes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline required.
Three or more years of related experience required.
