JOB SUMMARY:
The Software Engineer, Environment is responsible for configuring and maintaining the specific environment(s) used for Product Development. The role coordinates activities and technical resources for maintenance purposes as well as in development projects. The Software Engineer-Environment plans, executes and controls the installation of applications, tools, etc. Further, the role develops and controls routines for maintaining the environment. The Software Engineer, Environment analyzes the environment and suggests change alternatives. The Software Engineer, Environment provides subject matter expertise and works with development teams in managing the IT environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Title: Software Engineer, Environment
Grade: I10
· (80%) Configures and maintains the specific environment(s) including:
o Provides second and third-level support for applicable environment(s).
o Analyzes the IT environment and develops detail change suggestions for enhancements and new information technology solutions.
o Ensures that all required environment documentation exists and is updated (configuration item information), published and understood by all users.
o Performs builds of new versions of software developed and maintained by Product Development.
o Deploys builds of software into test environments.
o Requests hardware and software resources from ITS.
o Performs consequence analysis of environment requests from development projects.
· (20%) Member of a software development team
o Acts as a development project team member.
o Acts as active stakeholder with respect to requirements for development tools.
o Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Title: Senior Software Engineer, Environment
Grade: I13
Performs all of the above Software Engineer, Environment functions plus:
· (80%) Configures and maintains the specific environment(s) including:
o Analyzes problems and designs change requests.
o Works proactively to increase usability, uptime, and efficiency in the environments, both for stakeholders and the team.
· (20%) Member of a software development team
o Acts as sub-project manager.
Title: Lead Software Engineer, Environment
Grade: I15
Performs all of the above Senior Software Engineer, Environment functions plus:
· (80%) Configures and maintains the specific environment(s) including:
o Analyzes problems and designs change requests cross IT environments.
o Manages one or several KEGs.
· (20%) Member of a software development team
o Mentors other less experienced Software Engineers.

Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent business/education experience.
· 2 years of technical knowledge/experience with programming and software development.
· Ability to gather, analyze, and document environment changes and communicate to IT. developers for application/ systems development.
· Experience of testing procedures.
· Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
All of the requirements of Software Engineer, Environment plus:
· 5 years of technical knowledge/experience with programming and software development.
· Ability to organize, plan and lead a project plan from conception to completion.
· Extensive experience of testing procedures.
· Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
All of the requirements of a Senior Software Engineer, Environment plus:
· 8 years experience in the design and/or use of business management software systems.
· Ability to organize, plan and lead a project plan from conception to completion.
· Extensive experience of testing procedures.
· Excellent, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Appropriate IT environment experience.
· Knowledge/experience Lawson technologies.
· Technical knowledge/experience with one or more of the following: client server architecture, UNIX, iSeries, relational database, WEB.
· Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and, change work direction and priorities effectively as required.
