Software QA Engineer – Data Computing Appliance Engineering Greenplum

Key Areas of Responsibility
Collaborate effectively with other engineering team members in executing our QA Strategy for the DCA.
Contribute to the development of innovative testing solutions that meet market and business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
Perform effective root cause analysis to narrow down problem areas, across the many and varied components of the appliance, such as servers, network, storage switches and devices, and their complex interactions.
Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Science related field with 2+ years experience in QA
• Familiarity with distributed Unix (primarily Linux) concepts and tools
• Knowledge of L2 switching concepts, and TCP/IP fundamentals and theory
• Familiarity with SNMP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS, and the SSH protocol
• Familiarity with DBMS fundamentals
• Some QA experience in functional, fault tolerant and system level testing
• System administration scripting experience using perl and/or python
• Good communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to write clear and concise test design documents
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast paced environment

Desirable Experience

• Experience in virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Xen
• Experience in automated testing of web services and GUI technologies such as Flex and HTML5/Javascript
