SOFTWARE QA ENGINEER Revision3
Discovery Digital Networks, the premier publisher of digital-native programming for the Internet age, is looking for a Senior Architect to task with managing the architecture and execution of code on multiple technology products at Discovery Digital Networks. The candidate must be a team leader capable of hitting deadlines and making smart delivery decisions with long term maintenance and flexibility in mind.
The ideal candidate should be a seasoned technologist with a proven record of executing on core architectural pieces at scale. Experience with CDN's, CMS's, HTML5 video playback, social network integration, and cloud infrastructure and services is a must.
Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
Collaborate with the VP of Product & Tech and engineering teams to define a core architectural strategy to enable the product roadmap.
Manage the technology backlog and devise refactorings which align to product direction.
Bring in new technologies and work with fellow engineers to assess and test their appropriateness
Surface innovative approaches among the engineers and elevate them to serve the team as a whole
Establish best-practices in coding, workflow, and deployment
Establish a culture which embraces testing, and build testing practices and environments which engineers will use
Connect the team to open-source communities; encourage and lead the free flow of ideas and solutions among industry peers
Provide inspirational leadership, motivation and hands-on direction to the engineering staff
Hold the engineering team to a high standard, and enforce regularity, reuse, and quality
Mentor world-class team-members
Demonstrated expertise building platforms at high scale in a technology leadership role
Background in video management, delivery, and playback across multiple platforms, including mobile
Experience in database selection, schema design, integration, and deployment
Experience in selecting and implementing open-source architectures, including LAMP and its variants.
5-7 years development experience
Must have the legal right to work in the United States
Supporting the speedy and stable execution of the product roadmap
Reduction of code variance and instability
Reduction in technology debt
