Kiva Systems, Inc. uses game-changing automation technology for distribution centers that helps companies simplify operations and reduce costs while increasing strategic flexibility. Using hundreds of autonomous mobile robots and sophisticated control software, the Kiva Mobile-robotic Fulfillment System enables extremely fast cycle times with reduced labor requirements, from receiving to picking to shipping.
The Kiva software team is developing a complex material handling software application for deployment in large-scale customer distribution solutions. The fault-tolerant and scalable server-based application consists of many modules and user interfaces running across a set of client PCs. The application includes a high- performance, real-time database and is used for the control of semi-autonomous mobile robotic vehicles.
For our growing team, Kiva is seeking a talented and motivatedSoftwareQA Manual Test Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a 2-4 years experience testing complex software applications.
This position reports to the Director of QA and Tools.
As a Kiva System's QA Test Engineer you will be responsible for:
Feature and system testing of Kiva's Material Handling System (MHS) software releases.
Writing detailed system and feature-based test plans from product requirements and functional specifications using a state of the art Requirements Management Software package (Jama Contour).
Collaborating with product management, architecture and development organizations to formulate comprehensive system and feature test plans.
Installing and configuring Kiva MHS software releases in multiple testing environments.
Manually executing complex system and feature-based test plans.
Creating and tracking software defects found during testing using a defect-tracking system (JIRA)
Providing detailed defect reports containing all information required by the development team to reproduce and diagnose the problem.
Verifying bug fixes and regression testing new releases of Kiva MHS software.
Qualifications:
BS or MS Degree in CS/EE or equivalent
Knowledge of software quality engineering best practices
Experience with scripting languages (Shell, tcl, Perl, Jython, Python, Bash)
Linux/Unix operating system knowledge and experience using VM environments
Understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and SQL querying tools
Experience with and understanding of XML
Experience with bug tracking systems (Bugzilla, JIRA, ClearQuest, etc)
Testing on complex distributed applications is a plus
Excellent written and communication skills
