critical design engineering knowledge, processes and models (i.e. engineering intent) in

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced software quality assurance engineer to help define and
implement state-of- the-art processes for commercial quality mechanical engineering
software. In this role, the QA software engineer will ensure that the Comet R&D team
conducts comprehensive testing of our core Comet product and adaptors to external CAD
and CAE tools, ensuring high-quality software implementations from initial requirements
to final deliverable by working with all relevant internal and external stakeholders. The
ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, strong time management, project
management/task prioritization skills. This individual will be required to work
effectively with other Comet development and customer technical support staff team
members as well as Comet management to understand and coordinate the software testing
and quality validation efforts. This position is responsible for all aspects of black box
testing, including functional, system, regression and acceptance tests.
This person will design and implement automated and manual test cases, prepare test
data, execute tests and review, evaluate and document test results. He or she will work
closely with the Comet development team to identify areas and methods to improve
testing efficiency, expand coverage and increase product reliability.
Job Requirements:
? Work effectively with software R&D management fellow development and
support customer support team members as well as customers to understand the
functionality behind new feature requests
? Accurately estimate the testing requirement for new features
? Assist in defining and documenting formal acceptance criteria for new software
features as part of the requirements development process
? Develop and conduct effective and reliable test plans
? Verify and validate new features as delivered by the software development team
? Identify, track and report defects in the software

? Contribute to product, release and internal documentation
? Communicate product quality and testing progress, clearly identifying potential
development hurdles and impact on proposed release schedules to end users
? Manage pre-release Beta testing process with internal Comet staff, strategic
distribution partners and key Comet customers (as determined by management)

Qualifications:
? Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Computer
Science or a related technical field
? 5+ years of experience testing large commercial engineering software systems in
a dynamic and fast-paced environment with growing levels of responsibility
? Proven capability to design, develop, execute and maintain software test plans,
test cases and test procedures with minimal guidance
? Hands-on experience with commercial 3D MCAD and simulation software tools
such as structural FEA, Thermal Desktop, CODE V, SigFit, MATLAB, Excel
? Proficiency in interpreting and documenting user scenarios and complex use cases
in order to develop both automated and manual test scripts and procedures
? Excellent English verbal and written communications skills; Chinese and/or
Japanese language skills is a plus
? Ability to quickly learn new technologies and product functionality
? Experience with commercially available automated testing tools and Agile
development methodologies is a plus
? Software programming skills with C++, Python; XML and Scheme is a plus
