Software Quality Engineer Facecard
Job Description:
Be a member of our development team ensuring the quality and performance of ed's SOA
software platforms. This includes working with our product managers, software developers and
IT staff to assist in designing and building new application test suites, test plans as well as
performance testing plans.
This position will report to the VP of Product Engineering and work closely with product owners
and external technology partners.
Job Responsibilities:
Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards
Design or develop automated testing suites
Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software
scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
Create or maintain databases of known test defects
Implement standards, methods and procedures to determine product release readiness
Document software defects and report defects to software developers
Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes
Evaluate or recommend software for testing and/or bug tracking
Install, maintain, or use software testing programs
Investigate customer problems referred by technical support
Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements,
product designs, schedules, or potential problems
Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or
completeness, or to mitigate risks
Desired Technical Experience:
BS in computer science or related field.
2-5 years of automating software testing in a team environment
2-5 years of manual software planing and testing
2+ years of hands-on experience with open-source automated testing tools (unit and
integration)
Familiarity with Agile software methodologies (SCRUM)
Experience with the following tools:
Java
Axis2
Spring Framework
Hudson or other Continuous Integration servers
Subversion
Fit/Fitnesse
Red Hat/Cent OS Linux
JMeter
Python or Ruby Scripting (preferred)
Liquibase (preferred)
Work in a self-directed manner in new or loosely-defined situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Works well in a distributed team environment.
