Job Profile
Job Summary
The Software Release Manager is responsible for monitoring and coordinating software releases as well as reviewing and approving product readiness. The role is one of individual contributor (no direct reports) but works closely with the project manager, development manager, and product manager and their teams to develop product release plans and acceptance criteria
Essentials tasks (performed on an ongoing basis)
Coordinate development projects
- Assist development teams in planning schedules and milestones with respect to shared resources and other stakeholders
- Support development team with tracking software defects, change and enhancement requests and helps prioritize them
Ensure Product Readiness
- Formulate release entry/exit criteria with agreement from project stakeholder
- Review project progress and status to anticipate risks and plan remedial actions to release plans
- Facilitate status review and checkpoint meetings with all levels of relevant stakeholders
- Assess product readiness for approval of releasefor Beta or General availability
Communicate to stakeholders
- Communicate release plans and status to all the dependent parties
- Coordinate with legal, order fulfillment, launch management and product management to complete product readiness and provide input for company readiness
- Ensure appropriate tools and infrastructures are used to manage the release process
- Ensure process compliance for legal requirements on product releases
- Identify process flaws and improve processes continuously
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years of release/project management and 3 years of development/integration/testing experience with complex software projects
- Possess strong experience in release management, quality assurance and project management
- Possess solid experience in organizing, planning, and leading multiple projects from initiation through closing
- Has experience with ERP applications domain
- Has experience with software build process, testing ad code promotion.
- Has experience with verision control, document management and defect tracking tools
- With familiarity on configuration management proocesses and tools like CVS, CM Synerty, VSS, Rational Clear Case etc
- Proficient problem solving, interviewing and fact finding skills
- Strong analytical and tecnical skills
- Teamwork, organizational and negotiation skills
- Self motivation and deisciplined, ability to multi task
- Excellenet communication and interpersonal skills
