Ceres is seeking an experienced software sales manager for our innovative denomics software platform, Persephone TM. The Sales Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Genomics Technologies and be responsible for both strategic planning and implementation of well-integrated sales and marketing plans for verious licensing options and services, including large-scale installations, Software as a Service (SaaS), and maintenance and support plans. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of selling technical solutions to scientists, bioinformaticians, IT professionals and senior managers/executives in the life sciences. The position is located in Thousand Oaks, California.
Accountable for achieving Persephone TM sales targets
Effectively prospects and generates new customer leads; contacts key clients and prospects on a regular basis to build strong relationships; successfully closes on sales opportunities
Helps shape client meetings and deliver presentations to prospects
Coordinates with software architects/engineers to fine-tune the solution to client needs
Provides market insight, competitor analysis and product development direction to senior management and the Persephone development team by conduction market research as well as customer and stakeholder interviews
Develops sales pipeline management and sales best practices to identify new market and client opportunities; maintains accurate and timely information in teh company's CRM system
Create product collateral, including white-papers, website content, data sheets and presentations to support communication and sales efforts
Participate in trade-shows and makes presentations at conferences
Minimum of five years of experience selling software and related services to life science companies or organizations; a proven track record in defining and bringing new application solutions to market; history of selling to large corporate accounts.
Hands-on experience with SaaS applications and business models. Demonstrated knowledge aroung SaaS best-practices for pricing, operations, service delivery and integration.
Genomics and genetics background strongly desired; solid understanding of genomics (or bioinformatics) markets.
Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, technical and analytical skills.
High degree of judgment, discretion and creativity to persuade customers to adopt a favorable view and decide to buy.
Excellent verbal, written, visual/presentation skills.
Ability to work successfully in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment. Some travel domestic and international is required.
The position is located at Ceres headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California; working remotely may be considered.
A degree in the life sciences is required; MBA helpful.
