Responsibilities
Successful Software Engineers at Guidewire typically have:

• A desire to work collaboratively in a small, cross-functional team.
• An interest in practicing modern development techniques (TDD, scrum, pair programming, stories, kanban, etc.).
• Enough concern about quality to write and maintain loads of unit tests.
• Software product development experience.
• A desire to be hands-on in designing and writing code.
• A desire to approach solution development not from a technical perspective but from a business perspective.

We care most about your critical thinking skills and technical talent, however prior experience with a majority of the following technologies is desired.

• Java or another object-oriented language
• Web-based applications
• Test-driven development (TDD)
• Web services (e.g., WSDL, SOAP, XML, REST, Axis, XFire, Glassfish)
• J2EE technologies (e.g., EJB, servlets, JSP, JSF, JDBC, JMS, JMX)
• ORM technologies (e.g., Hibernate, JPA, JDO, HQL, XQuery, XPath)
• GOSU (http://gosu-lang.org/)

You must also be able to work in Toronto with optional, occasional travel to our headquarters in San Mateo, California.
