Kiva Systems, Inc. uses game-changing automation technology for distribution centers that helps companies simplify operations and reduce costs while increasing strategic flexibility. Using hundreds of autonomous mobile robots and sophisticated control software, the Kiva Mobile-robotic Fulfillment System enables extremely fast cycle times with reduced labor requirements, from receiving to picking to shipping.
For our fast growing engineering team, Kiva is seeking talented and motivated software engineers to work on the design and implementation of this application and associated tools with. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in complex enterprise applications or products, possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings. Further, this candidate would be familiar with fast growing companies and the associated deadlines and high-energy culture that goes along with launching new products.
The Software Sustaining Engineer will be responsible for:
Implementing quality software solutions to a variety of problems or needs within our Java-based soft-real-time system.
Contributing to the design, implementation and documentation of various software modules.
Verification that components and processes are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
Improve support capabilities by developing diagnostics and support tools into existing and future products
Assist managing multiple sustaining release branches. Develop or merge software enhancements and bug fixes.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
BS in Computer Science
1-5 years' experience with Object Oriented programming (Java, C++ )
MySQL database expertise, Python and XML programming exposure a plus.
Prior experience on Unix platforms and Linux internals and system level programming a plus
Understanding of networking protocols and technologies
Excellent written and oral communication skills with customer centric sensitivity
Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced environment.
A sense of humor and willingness to learn new things.
