The Software Engineer, Systems has the ability to assess new technologies, perform engineering tasks in development and QA environments to ensure that a GA-ready product is available, and act as first tier Subject Matter Expert support in troubleshooting situations. The position's responsibilities include analysis, design, programming, unit and integration testing of new or existing products/systems. The Software Engineer, Systems must have the ability to execute systems development projects with minimal technical direction. The Software Engineer, Systems must be able to produce high quality, high performance software that meets company's software development standards. â€¢ Designs and documents internal and/or external functionality. â€¢ Analyzes and documents impact and dependencies of the product or feature on other areas of the system. â€¢ Documents the unit testing and functional testing. â€¢ Estimates level of effort to complete design, implementation, and development testing. â€¢ Obtains review and approval of the design document before proceeding to implementation. â€¢ Translates design into code following company standards for product quality and maintainability. â€¢ Develops code derived from a design document using appropriate development standards. â€¢ Develops repair code derived from a prioritized Program Trouble Report. â€¢ Obtains peer review of the code. â€¢ Performs unit testing of the code and performs integration level testing with other features or products in the system. â€¢ Documents the final implementation of the design. â€¢ Documents changes required for the deliverable product (manuals, release notes, etc.). â€¢ Transmits the code to the appropriate system code branch. â€¢ Provides technical expertise to the application development, product maintenance, and customer support organizations. â€¢ May provide technical expertise for pre-sales support of customers on implementation and operational issues. â€¢ Conducts transactions with peers, other organizations, and vendor companies in a professional manner. â€¢ Provides complete, reliable, and prompt information to management. â€¢ Develops and maintains knowledge of Lawson systems elements and products, design and implementation tools used in the software development environment as well as current technologies in software development, computer systems and industry trends. â€¢ Volunteers experience and expertise to help others. â€¢ Works cooperatively and supportively within a programming team environment. â€¢ Fosters effective working relationships with associates in other organization units. â€¢ Generates realistic schedules of current and resource estimates for current and forecasted work that are planned, organized to meet expected schedules.
