We are currently seeking Research Associate candidates for our New York City office!
The Research Associate role is an entry-level position on the Lux Research team. Research Associates map the landscape of innovation in emerging technologies to help clients make better decisions about investments, partnerships, and strategy. Research Associates identify and analyze patents, scientific publications, and financial transactions, drawing on this work to develop and maintain a structured database. They also manage the process of inviting companies and research labs to brief the Lux Research team, and help to produce the weekly Lux Research Journal intelligence service.
Conduct secondary research drawing on diverse sources, including business and trade press articles, scientific publications, patent filings, and conference presentations.
Maintain a pipeline of briefings with senior executives at innovative companies as well as leaders of cutting-edge university and government labs.
Author descriptive documents that profile the emerging technology activities of start-up companies, large corporations, and research laboratories.
Assist with the production of research reports and other client deliverables.
Help manage the operations of a rapidly-growing, geographically-dispersed team.
We are seeking candidates currently living in or in the process of moving to the New York City area. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate with science or engineering degrees from local universities looking for his/her first professional job!
We are looking to fill this position IMMEDIATELY. Future graduates unavailable for immediate full-time work unfortunately will not be considered. An undergraduate or advanced degree in the physical sciences or engineering is required.

Undergraduate degree with outstanding record of academic achievement and a major in the physical sciences, or engineering (physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials sciences engineering, electrical engineering.). One to two years of work experience is a plus.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Deep intellectual curiosity about emerging technologies, particular interest in solar and/or semiconductors and energy/energy electronics highly desirable.
Willingness to do whatever it takes to meet client needs in a fast-moving, rapidly growing, start-up-like environment.
Entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, collegial, and collaborative approach to work.
Ability to write clearly about business and technical topics.
Comfort in calling into companies and research labs to schedule briefings.
Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin, Japanese or Korean is desirable; Western European or Middle Eastern language skills are also desirable.
Excellent office software skills and ability to touch type.
This is an entry-level position and is not appropriate for Ph.D. or post-doc candidates.
There is no relocation assistance associated with this role. We are seeking candidates local to the New York City area.
