Solar Device Scientist Miasole
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Characterization of thin film solar materials using both material analysis and solid state device characterization methods.
Correlation of solar cell device performance to deposition process conditions and physical/ interfacial properties of thin film materials.
Planning and execution of experiments on R&D and manufacturing pilot process equipment.
Development and continuous improvement of device characterization methodology related to thin film solar materials including procuring or adapting equipment for further understanding of new materials.
Support/mentoring of manufacturing engineering and technical teams. Focus on characterization of solar cells, detractors to cell efficiency with creation/review of procedures, policies, and failure responses
Troubleshooting of lab scale and manufacturing processes
Identifies opportunities for device and materials performance improvements through novel methods and clear process development paths
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 4 years in a photovoltaic (PV) development or manufacturing process development environment; thin film solar experience a plus
Demonstrated ability in developing new thin film solar material processes
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through a combination of structured experimentation and detailed characterization following root cause solution methodologies
Experience with thin film deposition processes/equipment and vacuum systems preferred
Relevant expertise/experience in electrical and optical device characterization with a demonstrated ability to build new laboratory equipment is recommended
Experience with training and leading technicians and operating in small project teams.
Fluent with MS Office Suite
Proven Technical Problem solving skills
Experience in statistical analysis using tools such as JMP. Experience with Design of Experiments.
Experience with working in a lab environment, including the safe handling of chemicals.
Ability to potentially use but skilled in interpreting results from characterizations tools, such as: IV, PL/EL, QE, SEM, SIMS, XRF, etc.
Positive interpersonal skills, highly energetic and self-motivated
Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and deliver results in a timely manner
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to peers and manufacturing partners
PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
or M.S. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field with 4 years of PV/semiconductor work experience.
