About the Job
The Pre-Sales Solution Architect provides technical domain leadership throughout the DSM software sales cycle. This Foster City, California based position will participate in the entire sales cycle, starting at the point of identifying and qualifying initial prospect requirements until contract signing. This involves working closely different business units to make sure that sales account executives receive the support required to yield positive sales results to drive revenue. Initially, the job will involve infrequent travel, as the desire is to have this position work closely with Product Management and Product Marketing located in Foster City, California and to coordinate the flow of information with remote pre-sales Solution Architect team members. This includes working with the Foster City team (product Management and Product Marketing) to create demonstration scripts around the benefits of new functionality in the Demand Management related software. Ideally, the candidate will have a strong background in Demand Side Management and Energy Efficient program software, Trade Ally Management, Demand Response, and Customer Engagement software and be a team player.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with sales Account Executives and Business Development Managers to qualify accounts.
Perform and manage customer demos &/or provide support to other SAs on an opportunity for their demo engagement.
Handling technical questions, issues, and follow-up activities.
Responding to RFP and RFIs.
Setting appropriate customer expectations during interactions, presentations and proposal responses.
Work with potential customers to apply Nexant products to "real world" problems/solutions.
Establish credibility with DSM utility prospects to demonstrate how Nexant DSM products can effectively and efficiently solve their problems.
Build and maintain a knowledge base for sharing frequently used RFI/RFP responses.
Strong written & communication skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with prospects.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
Ability to multi-task (such as juggling multiple proposals and demonstrations in a relatively short time frame).
Possess a high degree of creativity and a can do attitude.
Ability to work independently without a great amount of supervision.
Ability to communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management. Also must be able to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or related domain discipline.
5+ years of recent relevant experience in an Application Sales environment where majority of staff is remote.
Previous involvement with packaged enterprise software implementations is a plus.
Knowledge in the energy utility industry, specifically in the areas of Energy Efficiency, Customer Engagement, Trade Ally Management, and Demand Response.
