We have an immediate opportunity for a Solutions Architect on our Presales - Server and Storage team in Detroit, Michigan.
The primary responsibility of this position it to provide technical presales support to assist in developing the sales pipeline. The Solutions Architect is the technical lead on sales calls and facilitates interactions and collaboration with systems engineers and account executives. The Solutions Architect is responsible for the design and validation of solutions and providing guidance on best practices for implementation. This position will be in the Midwest - Detroit area.
? Provide pre-sales engineering for business opportunities.
? Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of a customers? current infrastructure and operations.
? Identify opportunities and develop technical solutions to meet customers? needs and requirements.
? Review and validate all solutions to ensure compatibility and consistency with FusionStorm best practices.
? Communicate the role and value of the solution to the organization and present the business case for technology investments.
? Assist the Sales Group and Professional Services with requests for quotes / information, bids, proposals and statements of work.
? Assist with the definition, development, installation and administration of solution demonstrations in the FusionStorm labs.
? Evaluate new vendor technology offerings, providing recommendations and go-to market plans for said technology.
? Participate in vendor training to maintain and grow skills and knowledge of existing and new products.
? Support local vendor relationships within the Region.
? Working in conjunction with other Solution Architects and teams create, maintain and publish a set of written procedures and best practices for the delivery of pre- and post-sales engineering services to customers.
? Participate in weekly conference calls for the Solutions Architect team.
? Present technical briefings to Client Executives and Sr. IT Staff
? Primary focus for products and professional services is on vendors as follows: EMC, NetApp, HP, Cisco, Hitachi Data Systems, VMware, and Symantec.
? Understand and abide by all security and operational policies
? This position may require travel 10-20% travel, as required, to support client meetings, attend training and vendor events. Trips are generally short-term trips (2-5 days in duration).
? Candidate should have a strong understand of the following and must be able to meet with all levels of IT to discuss.
o Servers - HP (how they compliment server consolidation with VMware and Microsoft).
o Software - Symantec NetBackup and Backup Exec, VMware, Microsoft
o Very familiar with technical sales in support of Microsoft environments (Exchange, AD, SQL Server).
o Backup/Recover - Knowledge of at least one major backup/recovery solution (e.g. Symantec Net Backup) and knowledge on latest techniques around backup, archiving, and disaster recovery.
o Storage - SAN, NAS, and iSCSI. Servers ? Blades Systems and standard rack mounts, and how they compliment server consolidation with VMware.
? 3-5 years experience in Presales Engineering, in selling system and solutions in the Channel model.
? Minimum of 5 years as an engineering consultant, outside systems engineer or similar.
? Able to gather business and IT requirements to assess appropriate solutions approach
? Ability to evaluate requirements to design and propose detailed solutions involving servers and storage
? Demonstrate self-motivation as well as cooperative teaming for performing all job responsibilities
? Understand systems and storage performance criteria as it relates to a solution
? Can demonstrate proficiency in selling Cisco UCS (Unified Computing System) solutions
? Has internalized Cisco UCS differentiators and values
? Attained Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design (DCUCD) certification a plus
? Can demonstrate proficiency in selling NetApp Unified Storage solutions
? Has internalized NetApp differentiators and values
? Attained NetApp Certified Solutions Architect (NCSA) a plus
? Able to gather implementation, upgrade, and migration services requirements through intuitive interaction with customers
? Understands implementation process, and can break down levels of effort and project phases and tasks
? Able to write detailed Statements of Work for server and storage implementation projects
? Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer.
? Strong technical writing skills and the ability to assist the Sales Group and Professional Services with requests for quotes / information, bids, proposals and statements of work.
? Demonstrate the ability to create technical drawings for solution proposals.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present in a group setting.
? Ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers, including conceptual design and white boarding sessions.
? Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives.
? Support forecasting through entering and maintaining opportunities in the CRM tool.
? Self motivated to develop and maintain skill set and product knowledge to maximize value and to deliver quality services to our customers. This includes attaining designated certification requirements and attending product-specific training, reviewing technical literature, and obtaining hands-on experience.
? Ability to mentor other solution architects and account executives.
? Professional self-starter, able to work collaboratively with others.
? Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions.
? Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills.
