Solutions Consultant StrongMail Systems
StrongMail is currently seeking a Solutions Consultant to join our team of experts in the US - Southeast Region. We are looking for a well-rounded individual willing to assume responsibility and grow at a rapid pace. The ideal candidate will have both email (or digital) marketing experience and a strong technical background.
As a member of the technical services team, the Solutions Consultant will be responsible for articulating the email marketing differentiators and technical benefits related to the products and services StrongMail has to offer. The Solutions Consultant will work closely with the Direct Sales Team, supporting both prospect and customer engagements. This position incorporates traditional pre-sales and solution engineering tasks and responsibilities applied to the rapidly growing field of Interactive Marketing.
The Solutions Consultant will utilize his or her strong marketing and technical consulting background to map the business and marketing requirements of prospects with StrongMails technology and services. Primary responsibilities include running prospect discovery sessions, designing standard and custom solutions, ensuring that solutions meet the requirements of the marketing and technical organizations, and presenting those solutions in the form of custom product demonstrations and presentations. StrongMail serves the world's top interactive marketers in four primary verticals; Retail, Media/Publishing, Travel & Hospitality, and Financial Services.
Responsibilities
This position functions as the technical point of contact for the sales organization. The Solutions Consultant is responsible for managing several sales or customer engagement opportunities simultaneously and will report directly to the Director of Enterprise Architecture. Up to 30 travel required.
In addition, the Solutions Consultant will:
Bridge prospect marketing and business requirements to technical and process solutions.
Engage in a rapid education process including formal training, self-study and field experience designed to position the candidate as an expert on all StrongMail technologies and related solutions as quickly as possible.
Provide solid design recommendations for proposed solutions that integrate with a customers sources/stores/backend systems of data, how the solution connects and moves that data, and how to report on it.
Analyze the performance of current service offerings and service offerings of competitors in conjunction with customer data to determine new solution concepts. Collaborate with Product Marketing and Product Management to define value and prioritize future solution requirements and roadmap.
Provide the "voice of the customer" to sales and account management to ensure marketability of solutions, establishing and tailoring of value propositions for appropriate market segments.
Respond to technical and process questions received via RFP and or RFI in an accurate and timely fashion.
Conduct Discovery sessions directly with prospects and customers.
Prepare custom prospect/client solutions to be presented within the StrongMail Products and Services suite.
Work directly with Sales, Strategic Services, and Professional Services to collaborate on and develop the overall Solution Presentation. Serve as the email marketing and technical SME during the sales cycle.
Present StrongMails solutions, including demonstrating deep familiarity with the company's software products and services.
Present prospect solutions onsite and/or via web-conference.
Assist in the creation of account configuration documentation and statements of work.
Prepare and provide client facing follow-up calls and documentation.
Foster close working relationships with Sales, Product Marketing, Product Management, Corporate Marketing, Executive and Operations teams to effectively leverage expertise and resources.
Utilize cross functional teams to maximize and focus resources on the achievement of Marketing and business objectives.
Meet or exceed quarterly Management objectives and revenue targets.
Industry Experience
Proficient with email marketing and other Interactive Marketing concepts and principles
Previous experience with ESP platforms a plus
Knowledge and understanding of integrated multi-channel marketing
Experience with: Responsys, Epsilon, Experian (Digital Impact), e-dialog, Unica, Aprimo, SAS (Customer Intelligence), Coremetrics, Omniture, and/or Webtrends
Technical Skills
Knowledge of email marketing delivery products and services
Knowledge of relational database concepts including specific knowledge of one or more of the following (Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase)
Knowledge of Web architecture
Knowledge of distributed computing and SaaS concepts
Knowledge of Web Service APIs
Understanding of how the digital messaging infrastructure can enable/hinder marketing efforts and programs
Analysis and design skills of moderate complexity
Background in email software services, messaging framework and technology a plus.
