Overview:
The Solution Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Sales Team in achieving quarterly bookings and revenue targets. This person will specify and demonstrate SciQuest products and will help identify solutions sets which meet customer needs and which will maximize SciQuest revenues. The engineer will provide client facing as well as telephone and email presales support to prospects and customers.
Principal Responsibilities:
Provides an in-depth understanding of SciQuest products and services to prospective customers which leads to increased revenue and shortened sales cycles.
Delivers remote and on-site demonstrations tailored to specific customer requirements, illustrates business value in a compelling way through excellent presentations, and a develops a thorough understanding of prospect concerns.
Leads detailed discovery sessions throughout the sales cycle to develop in-depth knowledge of a client?s needs, while portraying a consultative approach representative of SciQuest?s delivery culture.
Delivers executive-level presentations illustrating the business value of SciQuest solutions, incorporating case studies and metrics from current SciQuest customers. Assists with return on investment and value analysis during the sales process.
Summarizes and relays market feedback to SciQuest strategy teams, identifying trends and activity drivers essential to long-term success..
Interfaces with clients and internal resources to develop a solution strategy that will exceed the client?s expectations.
Plays a significant role in the creation and implementation of the SciQuest sales strategy and business plans.
Plans, assigns and takes part in client demonstrations and workshops.
Assists our sales, project management, and technology teams in the crafting of proposals by reviewing the technical requirements, designing appropriate solution landscape, and crafting technical and functional responses.
Builds comprehensive knowledge of competitor capabilities and effectively positions SciQuest solutions in all phases of sales cycle.
Works with account executives and clients to scope, design, and close new engagements.
Provides technical knowledge and training support to all Account Executives.
Provides the GPS organization with detailed information on any requirements, features and other information that was shown and given to the customer during the sales cycle.
Follows up with the Account Executive and / or customer with any outstanding issues.
Position Requirements:
Minimum 7+ years experience in a sales engineer/sales support role within an enterprise software technology organization.
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field is required.
Possesses knowledge of a minimum of two or more of the following business areas and related technology:
Contract Authoring and Management
Supplier Information Management
Electronic Sourcing
E-Procurement (Procure-to-Pay)
A/P Automation
Supplier Diversity Management
Demonstrated success at meeting and exceeding sales goals and quotas in a fast-paced, enterprise solutions environment.
Industry-specific exposure to procurement processes and use of associated solutions in Higher Education, Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences, Public Sector, Healthcare or Commercial sectors is desirable.
Understands Software-as-a-Service or cloud-based delivery and related benefits/concerns.
Illustrates working knowledge in information systems and technologies, specifically of ERP processes and technical platforms is preferred. Working knowledge of e-procurement and supplier enablement/hosted content management is highly desirable.
Capable of preparing and delivering effective software demonstrations is required.
Business savvy and disciplined in sales/client situations is a must. Multitasking and meeting deadlines amongst competing priorities is essential to success in this role.
Working knowledge of return-on-investment principles and ability to articulate value to executive decision-makers.
Skilled at leading and facilitating design workshops is required.
Ability to present and receive complex technical information at an accelerated level.
Ability to convert information from customers into a strategy for SciQuest software and services.
Ability to travel as much as 75% is desired.
