The Medical Coders report to the Coding Manager and work remotely from the Bethesda corporate office. They review physician documentation and code diagnoses and procedures using current ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions to assure the specificity of diagnoses, procedures and modifiers assignments as appropriate for optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges.

Overview:
Accurately code procedures and diagnosis according to specific policies and procedures.
Assist with denials related to coding issues as necessary.
Participate in Quality Management activities, as appropriate.
Provide client support as needed.
Perform related work as required and/or assigned.
Maintain a 3% error ratio or below for Quality Assurance.
Needs:
Three years experience in physician and facility coding.
Must be certified with AAPC, and/or AHIMA certifications.
Will have extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 coding systems, and Coding guidelines.
Strong attention to detail.
Capable of working under time restraints.
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize job duties under general supervision.
Must have good research skills.
Wired high speed internet such as DSL, FIOS or Cable.
