Quidel Corporation is growing with a robust and exciting product pipeline. We have an opening for a Specialty Sales Director (SSD) to lead a growing sales force. The SSD has responsibility for the achievement of sales and profitability objectives with assigned sales channel and/or market segment, especially with respect to growing market for Quidel's specialty products such as molecular, instrument-based and thyroid products. Responsible for the recruitment, development and coaching of direct reports in order to exceed sales and profitability objectives, the SSD manages and directs the selling activities, expense budgeting, and marketing activities of direct reports to achieve assigned objectives.
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred
A minimum of 5 years sales experience, preferably in the medical device/diagnostic sector. At least 2 years of sales management experience preferred
Experience with molecular, instrumentation or capital equipment sales is a plus
Thorough understanding of the medical sales and distribution industry
Proven ability to influence behavior and obtain results through others
High degree of proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
Solid communication skills ? written and verbal
Ability to think strategically and bring a high level of creativity to the organization
Well developed organizational sensitivity with appropriate level of tact and diplomacy
Flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment to work with others in a professional and effective way
Personal ethics and integrity necessary to create a leadership style that embodies best practices and highest corporate values
Must be able to travel up to 70%.
