Description:
The position of Assistant Controller is a senior, high visibility accounting management position, with potential for advancement. This position assists the Corporate Controller in coordinating, administering and controlling the financial operations of the company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Corporate Controller and directly supervise a General Accounting Manager, an A/R Accountant responsible for billing collections credit and accounts receivable, and an Accounts Payable accountant responsible for accounts payable, vendor management, expense reimbursements and royalty accounting. The position will interact on a frequent basis with senior management at corporate headquarters and other international offices. The position will also be actively involved in audit activities performed by the outside auditors. This role will have specific responsibilities for implementing and maintaining a high level of internal controls within a Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance framework.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
? Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and implement new accounting rules and regulations as they arise.
? Prepare the corporate consolidation in a multinational, multicurrency environment.
? Provide guidance and recommendations on current and emerging accounting issues.
? Proactively suggest improvements to the close and reporting processes.
? Ensure internal controls are working effectively and propose new controls as needed
? Drive the development of worldwide accounting policies and accounting procedures manual and communicate and maintain policies and procedures
? Maintain and enhance the optimum usage of Great Plains, the company ERP system, including support of the European controller in France.
? Serve as liaison with auditors and ensure a speedy and timely completion of the annual audit and quarterly reviews in compliance with US GAAP.
? Work with operations management on accounting for finished goods inventory
? Assist with the preparation of the annual budget
? Manage FAS 123R Stock Option Accounting calculations and reporting
? Support the Corporate Controller and CFO in special projects as they arise.
Experience Required:
? Minimum 9+ years experience working in a high-growth, recent public company technical product environment. Must have strong technical accounting skills, especially related to revenue recognition and be current with regulations and compliance issues.
? Must have hands on experience managing monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting cycles.
? Must have strong working knowledge of the purchase-to-pay and quote-to-cash business processes.
? Must possess strong communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of management.
? Must possess strong supervisory skills and have to ability to train, coach, and supervise direct and indirect staff.
? Strong writing skills including the ability to write company policies.
? Strong working knowledge of Great Plains and FRX reporting systems
? Ability to work in a fast paced environment and comply with tight deadlines
? Great sense of humor and can-do attitude with an ability to juggle many initiatives at one time.
? Public Company experience is required.
? Experience with Equity Edge on line
? Windows Sales/Use Tax experience and property use Tax.
? Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
? CPA highly desirable
? Multi-national company consolidation experience required.
? Communications, digital media, networking, telecom and or software product sales industry experience is highly desirable.
